On August 28, 1998 after spot auction currency trading at the Moscow Interbank Currency Exchange (MICEX) was suspended, the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) and EMTA began publishing a Ruble/Dollar exchange rate (the "CME/EMTA Reference Rate") on a daily basis on Reuters screen page "EMTA."  Following extensive discussions with many market participants, the CME and EMTA established this rate mechanism as a back-up valuation for the settlement of the CME's ruble futures contracts in the absence of a MICEX rate fixing.  The CME/EMTA Reference Rate is  also been used by market participants in connection with the settlement of non-deliverable forward transactions for the Russian Ruble.  In 2004, EMTA and CME undertook to again amend and update the methodology for producing the rate, making a number of significant changes in the survey procedures. The new survey procedures became effective June 16, 2005.

CME and EMTA disclaim liability for the CME/EMTA Reference Rate, and no representation or warranty, express or implied, is made concerning the rate (including, without limitation, the methodology for its determination and its suitability for any particular use).
